Lost Fishing Gear Recovery
Posted on 28th July 2025
Clean Planet UK is a charity based in the Northeast of England, dedicated to tackling the problem of ghost gear in UK waters.
Their mission is to remove lost and abandoned fishing gear from the sea and promote sustainable fishing practices to prevent further damage to marine ecosystems. They work with local fishing communities, governments, and NGOs to recover lost or abandoned fishing gear and recycle it whenever possible. Their team of experienced divers and volunteers use advanced techniques to locate and retrieve ghost gear from the seabed and rely on public donations.
If your vessel has lost any fishing gear (pots, nets, ropes etc.) please report it to Clean Planet UK as soon as possible as they may be able to get it back for you or recover it for recycling.
