The Marine and Coastal Access Act 2009 allows for the creation of Marine Conservation Zones. MCZs protect a range of nationally important marine wildlife, habitats, geology and geomorphology, and can be designated anywhere in English and Welsh territorial and UK offshore waters. It is part of NEIFCAs conservation duties to manage fishing activity within the MCZs in our District to ensure that the conservation objectives of the sites are furthered. There are 2 MCZs within NEIFCAs jurisdiction.
