Career Opportunities at North Eastern IFCA
North Eastern Inshore Fisheries and Conservation Authority is one of 10 authorities covering the English coast. Our primary statutory function is to manage the sustainable exploitation of sea fisheries resources. This is delivered through the monitoring of activities and enforcement of appropriate management measures including local and national regulations. As an Authority, we are proud of the work we do and the goals we strive to achieve, and our main priority is to find people with the same values, behaviors and attitudes that match our own.
To support the running and operation of our new ‘state of the art’ fisheries vessel we are currently seeking to recruit two new full time crew members into the following role:
Vessel Crew/Inshore Fisheries & Conservation Officer
£37,879 - £42,043 + unsociable hours allowance (time plus one third for any hours worked between 6pm and 6am) for average 42 hours per week
Based in Whitby, North Yorkshire, this is a unique and exciting opportunity to join the Authority’s established offshore team and become involved in the running and operation of a new, fourth generation, fisheries vessel supporting the protection, conservation and management of marine resources along the North East coast of England.
Daily duties will include supporting the safe running, maintenance and operation of the vessel alongside other offshore assets and supporting the delivery of the Authority’s marine survey and fisheries enforcement and compliance programmes.
Practical experience in commercial inshore fishing practices, marine survey work, boat handling and a practical knowledge of the maintenance and repair of marine vessels and ancillary equipment would all be advantageous to this role.
