IFCO/Shore Operations

North Eastern Inshore Fisheries and Conservation Authority is one of 10 authorities surrounding the coastline of England, our statutory function is to manage a sustainable marine environment and inshore fisheries.

As an Authority, we are proud of the work we do and the objectives we strive to achieve, and our main priority is to find people with the same values, behaviours and attitudes that match our own.

Following a retirement within NEIFCA’s long-standing operational staff we are now seeking to recruit a shore based Inshore Fisheries and Conservation Officer (IFCO). This is a full-time position, based in Whitby:

£34,434 - £38,220 + unsociable hours allowance (time plus one third for any hours worked between 6pm and 6am) for average 37 hours per week

This is both an exciting and rare opportunity to join our Shore Operations Team. Based in Whitby, North Yorkshire, working under the direction of the Shore Operations Manager, you will form an essential part of the Authority’s land-based team, actively supporting the enforcement of fisheries regulations across the Authority’s district. Attaining warranted status, day to day responsibilities will involve inspecting vessels in ports and at sea, premises and businesses involved in the fishing industry and supporting some of the Authority’s field survey work both onshore and offshore.

Experience in a similar role and field would be advantageous but not essential.
