Welcome
to the North Eastern Inshore Fisheries and Conservation Authority

From rugged chalk cliffs full of nesting seabirds to rocky reefs teeming with crabs and lobsters, the marine environments of the North East coast of England are amongst the best examples in the UK. Our seas support the livelihoods of local commercial fishermen and their communities and provide a destination for hobby fishers targeting fish and shellfish.

NEIFCA is responsible for the sustainable management of fisheries and fisheries activities, including Marine Protected Areas, out to a distance of six nautical miles.

IFCA INSIGHTS - JULY EDITION
The Association of IFCAs has released their July edition of IFCA Insights. This has been an important period for England’s IFCAs, and this edition demonstrates the breadth, value and impact of the work being delivered around the coast. As we mark 15 years of IFCAs, it is a timely opportunity to reflect on the progress made since their creation, but also to look ahead at the continuing role IFCAs play in supporting sustainable inshore fisheries, protecting the marine environment and working with coastal communities.
