The North East of England is home to a number of productive commercial fisheries including potting for lobster and crab, scallop dredging, trawling for Norway lobster and netting for white fish species.
When fishing commercially within the District, various spatial and temporal restrictions apply depending on the gear type used and/or the target species. A regional permit may also be required in addition to your UK fishing licence and shellfish entitlement. You can check what the specific requirements are by reviewing our
