Bass Regulation Update

The Sea Fisheries (Amendment) Regulations 2026 have now been made and published on legislation.gov.uk confirming the uplift to the recreational bass bag limit.

Recreational anglers will now be allowed to retain 3 bass per day outside of February and March:

  • 1st Jan - 31st Jan - 3 sea bass, per angler, per day
  • 1st Feb - 31st March - catch and release only
  • 1st April - 31st December - 3 sea bass, per anger, per day

Please Note:

The minimum size for European sea bass remains at 42cm.

No bass may be taken by fixed or drift nets.

These rules apply if you are fishing from a boat or from the shore.
